As an avid mad-art-scientist I love to mix up the media constantly. Getting into my ‘skele’ series took no great leap or effort as I began to revert to my innate pen/brush & ink techniques. Getting detailed, buffing up the linework, and letting the fluidity of the brush and flow of ink do it’s natural aesthetic wonders is just another branch of my evil-tree. Going the extra lengthy route it seemed that bringing some collage work to the subject would be the perfect spice. After digging into my stock of old magazines I found the perfect dice…a December 1970 edition of MALE magazine. For those of you unfamiliar with the 60’s-70’s ‘male’ mags (and I’m not talking porn) you know you will find crazy articles on orgies, crime, Amazon drugs, biker gangs, and blow up dolls. These old mags are filled with the distinct nostalgia of the era and boast as perfect materials for slicing and dicing into new works of visually striking imagery.

I found the perfect article to cut into. It was titled Cycle Rats and told the story of the son who headed off into the desert in search of the outlaw biker gang who killed his father. It was a crazy tale about the disappearance of a famous mystery story writer and noted treasure buff who was caught trying to outspeed desert marauders who preyed on lone prospectors. Needless to say it was filled with crimes of passion, deceit, and infamous West Coast rat packs! It was the perfect piece to introduce my trademark “Get FUQD” emblem. You dirtbags know what I’m sayin!
