It’s no secret that one of my all time favorite top ranking hip-hop acts happens to be Public Enemy. Known for their politically charged lyrics and criticism of the American media, with an active interest in the frustrations and concerns of the African American community and the detrimental invasiveness of American government on our freedoms, Public Enemy inspired my drive as a youngster to stand up and be proud of my own heritage, personal viewpoints, and most of all the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. The lyrics, quotes, and song titles of this semi-militant rap group is infused into each piece of my Live Fast Burn Slow collection.
Seeing as how Live Fast Burn Slow is a social commentary on the invasive exploits of subcultures within American Society and timed with the latest release of PE’s album Most of My Heroes Still Don’t Appear on No Stamp it made perfect sense to implant a few hand inked words that related to the message of each art piece. Here is a breakdown of which piece has what quote, including the record, song or sample that the statements derived from.
