My favorite season of the year blended with the best holiday of the year always makes me feel like a kid again. This year I had a blast hunting down the perfect pumpkin with my brother’s family and my niece. Jude did a great job getting everyone involved and helped us all find the best pumpkin for a wicked carving party.

The warted Jack

Little did I know, that even though the goosebump pumpkins look rather cool they are tough to carve. Those types of pumpkins are almost like a gord and feel like your carving into bone when you actually get past the outer orange skin. Needless to say, everyone but me chose a standard carving pumpkin and got to get messy with the seeds and innards and light up their jack-o-lanterns on que. Myself on the other hand needed some power tools just to crack the pumpkin. So, rather than risk splitting the warty gourd I decided to break out the old carving tools and do a surface carving design. It ended up like a semi-relief that involved peeling away the outer layer. Either way, it was a ton of creative fun. We need Halloween like every other month…nostalgic!
